Slip Ring in Motors Electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy by a device called an induction motor. Industrial applications, which may start on their own, make up the majority of its utilisation. The wound rotor slip ring induction motor is one of the three-phase induction motor varieties.

Due to a number of advantages including low beginning current, strong starting torque, and improved power factor, it is used in applications that need high torque, such as cranes and lifts.

The rotor windings have more windings, a bigger induced voltage, and less current than a squirrel-cage rotor. Slip rings are used to link the windings to an external resistance, which helps control the torque and speed of a motor.
